This is necessary when a distance needs to be travelled through the guard. For many of our snorkel and Airbox combinations, we use a Diaphragm seal arrangement. This means the snorkel is connected directly to the Airbox and is sealed tightly to prevent water from getting in. They use custom-made air filters with either 8 layers of gauze or paper elements to ensure good filtration. The filters are designed in a pod shape to prevent distortion of the sealing surface when they become clogged, which can happen with panel filters.
